The Gargnano Elementary School

The Gargnano Elementary School

The Gargnano elementary school on Via Feltrinelli street (located at the beginning of the Strada del Monte road that connects Gargnano with the inland areas of Navazzo, Liano, Sasso, La Costa and Valvestino) was designed by the architect Alberico Barbiano di Belgiojoso in 1921 at the request of the Feltrinelli family. The building is of particular architectural significance as it presents an eclectic style of a monumental structure: it comprises three floors, with a central section and two taller, lateral bodies that extend out. It has a fake ashlar on the lower level and is characterized by the rigid lines created by its regular, closely arranged series of windows. The upper part is richly decorated with geometric and stylized motifs.
